'Tis the Season

Growing up Nate's family often decorated gingerbread houses on Christmas Eve with his cousins. Our first Christmas together we thought decorating homemade gingerbread houses would be a fun tradition to continue.  Unfortunately, we missed last year. On Sunday night we got together with some friends to decorate! While baking the gingerbread and listening to Christmas music it finally started to feel like Christmastime.

Decorating (I think I look huge in this picture.)

The finished houses. Our friends decided to add a second story. I think it looks so cool.

Unfortunately, the lower level wasn't quite strong enough to hold the upper level. Maybe if the walls were thicker and had been cooked a little longer?!? Something to experiment with next year.

They turned out so cute! Well, at least before they crashed. Did you make the gingerbread yourself or buy a kit? If you have a good recipe, I've always wanted to try making one from scratch.
