Army Crawl

Wade just started rolling to his stomach about a week ago and all of a sudden he is on the move. Last night we noticed he is really starting to figure out how to dig his toes in to the ground to move himself forward. He's also getting up onto his knees and rocking back and forth, sometimes moving forward a touch. He's going to be crawling in no time. Yikes! I don't know if we're ready for that. He still seems like our little baby. Seriously, where did the past six months go?

Cute pictures!

Wade (or Wadie as Preston affectionately calls hims) has started rolling. Just in the last few days he has done it more and more. We are so excited he has reached this milestone! He also is starting to grab anything and everything. Preston doesn't love that Wade tries to grab his toys or that I purposely give him some to play with. We're working on the concept of sharing.

Camping

We went camping with several friends the other weekend. Some thought we were crazy. It was 8 adults, 4 toddlers and 4 infants. We were excited to go but also approached the weekend with a little trepidation. We had no idea how it would be or if we would get any sleep. Surprisingly it ended up being a ton of fun! The boys slept great the first night and pretty well the second night. The kids loved being able to run around together. Preston loves being able to run free. We had great food. We even had a pinata to celebrate a birthday. On top of it, Preston LOVED being able to pee in the trees and in the porta potty. Each time he went to the bathroom he had to announce it to the entire group.  Sorry for the picture overload. We took more than 200 pictures over the weekend and there were too many cute ones.

Preston's Potty Trained

He did it! And, it wasn't nearly as difficult as we were anticipating. I guess he has been ready for awhile. There is no other way to explain his quick success. He is so proud to wear his big boy undies. We created a call chart for Preston to choose who to call and tell of his success each time he went on the toilet. His favorite person to call was Daddy (of course) and then coming in at a close 2nd was Uncle Eric. He also enjoyed filling up his potty chart to get a car and loved the treat after each success. We're still trying to wean him from the treat addiction it created. Another favorite was the baby doll we bought to help in the training. She came with her own toilet that makes noise, changes to show poop and pee when sat on and then a handle to flush away the mess. He was obsessed with it.

Dentist

Preston had his first dentist appointment a few weeks ago. He was pretty excited about it. Surprisingly he let the dental hygienist clean his teeth. She was amazed and said most kids his age are too scared or won't sit still long enough, so they don't usually get a full cleaning in. Good job, Preston! We went to a pediatric dentist that was recommended by a few people from church. Preston enjoyed the tvs above each dental chair and all the things geared towards young children in the office.

Brotherly Love

I love this picture! Maybe it's because it is one of the rare peaceful moments when Preston isn't being a bit naughty towards Wade.

Habitot

A few weekends ago we had a fun Saturday morning exploring Habitot, a children's museum in Berkeley, with a few friends. It was so much fun. We went there for Preston's first birthday and we had a good time but it was so much more fun this time. I think Preston was just a tad too young before but really got into all the activities this time.

Toe Grabber

Almost a month ago Wade started grabbing his toes. I LOVE watching babies roll around holding onto their toes. I think it is just the cutest thing. We seriously love this kid.

Color Run

Shortly after returning from Boise I was signed up to run San Francisco's Color Run. It's only a 5k and let's be serious - not a serious one at all. I hadn't even tried to train because I was signed up with three other girls, two of which had just had babies about 5 and 7 weeks before. I figured we wouldn't really be doing any running. Surprisingly I was wrong. These girls were super stars and we ended up running about 3.5k of it. It was so much fun! It was a bit crazy logistically for us nursing mommas but Wade was a champ and was pleasant for Nate despite being stretched a bit between feedings. Nate was the only husband willing to brave bringing the two kids into the city to watch the event. Preston LOVED it and still talks about when mom was covered in colors. The color run is adding cities like crazy to its line up as it is getting more and more popular. Check out their website!

Returning Home

We were sad to leave family and friends in Idaho but also excited to be back home. Preston missed the park behind our house and couldn't wait to run through the fountains. He loves that park. Wade and Preston both had growth spurts while we were in Boise. How do we know? Wade no longer fit in the clothes we took with us. As for Preston - before we left for Boise Preston was too short to reach the light switches to turn the lights on. When we got home he was able to reach the light switches without a problem. He was SO excited when he discovered this. His growth spurt also meant he could ride his bike so much easier. Now he loves to go on a bike ride. Hooray! Rather than taking his bike to the park and pushing it around he prefers to ride it around. He actually asks to ride his bike now too. Finally.
