Little Cruiser
The weather on Friday was
beautiful and Nate got home early from work so we decided it was time to go to
the park and try to teach Preston to ride his bike again. He's been close for awhile. His
feet finally reach the pedals and he gets the concept of steering. Early January
I took him to the park and he was so close but gave up to "push" the
bike himself. He didn't want me pushing him on it anymore. Well, today was a
success! He finally was able to pedal by himself. We were so excited for him.
He seemed to enjoy it too - except for when he decided to go off-roading in the
gravel down a hill and lost his balance. He fell off and scraped up his elbow.
Luckily he got back on and rode awhile longer. When he got home he had to tell
the car all about his "owie". We were putting him in his carseat and
he said, "Look car! Me owie," as he was holding his elbow out for the
car to see. We had a good little chuckle over that. Yesterday he told us he wanted to go to the park and ride his bike. Hooray!
Children's Fairyland in Oakland
We had a super fun day playing at
Fairyland with friends. Our friend's mom scored a bunch of tickets through her work and we were able to go. It's an outdoor play place centered around Fairy Tales. Preston
loved the space to run. It was a little bit of work to corral all the kids the same direction
since there were 5 of them around the age of two. We rode the Merry-Go-Round multiple times since we decided to stop and eat lunch right next to the ride and the train was a huge
hit. Of course! The kids also enjoyed the slide down the rabbit hole with Alice in Wonderland.
I'm glad Preston had so much fun. At one point Preston's friends, Addie and Jace, were holding hands. I
think Preston got a little jealous and was trying to grab on too. Jace's mom
tried to get Jace to hold Preston's hand but Preston refused. He got a little
frustrated and then went running around to the other side to Addie where he
latched on. Smart boy! He wanted to hold hands with the girl. It was cute.
Towards the end of our trip Preston was walking slower and slower. I asked him if he was tired
and the next thing I knew he was lying on the hard cement walkway pretending to
sleep while people and strollers passed on either side of him. He seriously
stayed there for at least 3 minutes. What a funny kid and what a fun day!

Feeding the Ducks
A few weeks ago Preston and I went to feed the ducks at a nearby shopping center. They have a ton of ducks, geese and even a few swans. We bought the special feed they sell since they have warning signs that human food can be harmful to the health of the animals. We may be suckers but I felt better about doing that than feeding them the bread we had bought. Preston was a little nervous but by the end was enjoying every minute of throwing the feed to the ducks. It was a beautiful afternoon to spend outside. We had so much fun.
Grandma and Grandpa Visit
Preston had so much fun with Nate's parents this weekend. They offered to come give us a break to re-charge before the baby comes and we jumped at it. They took Preston off our hands almost the entire weekend so we could get some cleaning/purging/organizing done and also run some errands. Plus, we took the chance to get away for a night. It was so great. Preston was seriously in heaven with all the attention he received and for the first time ever seemed excited to say "Bye" to us. Usually he cries a bit and doesn't want us to go but this weekend was totally different. He would say cheerfully, "Bye Mommy. Bye Daddy. See you later!" It was the greatest thing.
Here are a few pictures of his fun weekend with Grandma and Grandpa.

Valentine's Cookies
We had a lot of fun as a family making sugar cookies for Valentine's Day. Preston was so excited when we made the cookie dough last night. We told him we would make them and decorate them after church today. He remembered all during church and couldn't wait to get home. When we pulled out the candy to decorate with he got the biggest smile on his face and said, "Ooohhh....Yummy!" His preferred form of decorating was dropping handfuls of every type of candy on each cookie.

Swimming
Preston loves putting on his swimming trunks. The other night he put them on and then pretended to go swimming in the pool. It made us laugh because it was so random. He's starting to get pretty creative and I love it. Neither Nate or I taught him to use his blanket as the pool.
