Trip to Thailand

We just got back from our trip to Thailand. Many have been begging us for pictures (already)-so here are a few! We had a great time, saw some amazing things, ate some great food and not so great food-and just relaxed.

Highlights from our trip include:
  • Riding an elephant. They're not very comfortable and their skin is not at as smooth as it looks. They actually have prickly thick hair but was so fun.
  • Getting soaked in the rain. We went for a walk and got caught in a downpour. By the time we made it back to the hotel we were soaked through.
  • Snorkeling in the Ocean. The coral was amazing and we saw tons of colorful fish.
  • Sea Kayaking. We went through some sea caves that could only be reached at low tide. The caves led to areas in the middle of the islands that could only be reached through caves. We saw walking fish, monkeys, crabs, mangrove trees, egrets, mud...
  • Taxi Van. We were shocked when our taxi driver turned on his DVD player to reveal karaoke in the car with microphone, blinking lights and all! We sang loud to "Country Road" by John Denver. Who knew taxi rides could be so entertaining.

And more fun! Thanks Doug and Annette for taking us with you! We loved the vacation.

Birthday Wishes

One of my heroes celebrates his birthday today... my dad. I've always admired my dad but as I grow older and take on more responsibilities, I realize just how amazing he is. Despite all the things he has going on: his full-time job, the Subway franchises my parents own, his church callings, and more, he always finds time to spend with the family, time to attend all of our extra-curricular activities or time to lend a listening ear. I always know when I need advice he will give inspired counsel.

I don't think I say it enough: I love you Dad!
